FULL PRESS RELEASE:Morgantown, WV, November 10, 2010—WV LIVING Marketplace, a unique shopping experience that showcases fabulous products created by West Virginia artists and craftsmen, will celebrate its grand opening Saturday, November 27, 2010, in Seneca Center on Beechurst Avenue in Morgantown, West Virginia, located in Monongalia County.
WV LIVING Marketplace in Morgantown is the second retail space to open in an effort to continue the mission of the popular statewide publication, WV LIVING Magazine. Nikki Bowman, owner and editor of WV LIVING and WV WEDDINGS, and Parween Mascari, an attorney with Jackson Kelly PLLC, joined forces in creating these stores to illustrate how to incorporate West Virginia-made products into the home.

- “The mission of WV LIVING Magazine is to change perceptions and raise awareness about our beautiful state, and the Marketplace is an extension of that mission,” says Bowman, who is the chief creative officer. “We are championing our state’s finest craftsmen and small businesses in a vibrant and energetic store. We hope to encourage people to live locally, instead of buying products made out of the country. You can set your table with locally-made products like one-of-a-kind tumblers from Ron Hinkle Glass, Jeff Fetty flowers, and serving pieces from Blenko and WVU Ceramic Studio. Every piece tells a story and becomes a family heirloom.”
Jerry Hall, owner of Seneca Center, is happy to have WV LIVING Marketplace as the Center’s newest retail addition. Hall says, “We are so pleased to have WV LIVING Marketplace here providing an additional retail outlet offering unique West Virginia-made artisan products. We are happy to support any business striving to promote the state.
- Glassware, furnishings, and pottery are not the only items the Marketplace showcases. Hand-made jewelry, hand-woven baskets, textiles, candles, stationery, soaps, lotions, books, and gourmet food products also line the shelves in the store. WV LIVING also has its own brand of items called the WV LIVING Artisan Collection. Bowman explains, “The WV LIVING Artisan Collection is a unique product line that we’ve commissioned from some of our favorite local artisans that are a bit more contemporary or whimsical. Many of our textile, jewelry, and gourmet food products are part of that collection.”
Bowman and Mascari chose to locate their second retail store in Seneca Center because it is such a beautiful, iconic venue recognized for its historical role in West Virginia’s glass industry. “Morgantown is consistently named one of the best small cities in the country,” says Mascari, who is the chief operations officer.
